“Hands down, the hardest part of this entire challenge is the running. ‘And then, we run!’ are the four little words that make me cringe every time they come out of Doug’s mouth.  I was never a good runner, and that has definitely been reinforced with boot camp. The exercises never get any easier, but I am getting better at them. That’s the important part – I am pushing myself harder in workouts and making better choices with my eating habits!”

“The most challenging aspect for me has been adjusting my social life to work with my diet. When gathering with friends, good food and beverages are usually lurking nearby, and I am not talking about the healthy variety of “good.” I have struggled with remaining disciplined, but when you work out as hard as we do, you almost don’t want to eat those sugary, greasy, or sodium-filled foods. In order to still have that fellowship that is often accompanied by food, I have hosted friends at my place for a game or movie night and prepared healthier versions of our favorite snacks. However, if I do fall victim to the cheesy goodness of a pizza when meeting friends or co-workers somewhere, I make sure to limit myself to one slice – moderation is the key!”

“The hardest part of this competition has been making myself go to boot camp. I wake up every morning at 5:30 for work and my days seem to be so long, especially since I have a two hour commute to and from work. The only thing I want to do when I leave the office is go home and relax. I’m not going to lie, I dread the thought of going to boot camp and getting my butt kicked by Doug. But once I’m there, and after I’m done, I am so glad I did it! The feeling of success and personal gratification that I have every evening when I leave boot camp is what gives me the strength to keep going.”

“The hardest part for me is socializing on diet. I never realized how much meeting up with friends revolves around calorie rich food and drinks. We like getting together  for happy hours, dinners, and parties with yummy snacks. It is so hard to resist! And when I do, it is funny to see my friends reactions. I skipped a glass of wine at book club and they all thought I must be pregnant. Thankfully though, my friends are so supportive. As soon as I explain my goal, even if I wanted to cheat, they won’t let me. It is tough, but I know in the end I will be so thankful I resisted. I already see changes in my body and can’t wait to see even more!”

“The hardest part of this process for me so far has been finding time to squeeze in my workouts. With going to school full time and working full time, the stress of planning a destination wedding has been tough, but the good part is that I’m done with school and get to graduate May 14th (so i have one less thing to worry about)…woohoo! Anyways, I am very determined to go all the way. Like Doug and everybody else says, this is your one and only day to look the best you’ve ever looked.”
