Caroline Chatterton never imagined she would meet her fiancé at a party of her own planning, but when she and Mason Guinn were introduced at the Delta Gamma “Summer Splash,” that’s exactly what happened. The pair immediately hit it off, and they quickly became close friends. By the time they graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, it was no secret that Mason saw her as someone special. However, after college the two parted with Caroline moving back to Dallas and Mason headed to Nacogdoches. But their story wasn’t over yet. During that time, Mason often travelled to Dallas to visit his twin brother. On one of those trips, he happened to run into Caroline at a nightclub and mustered up the courage to ask her out on a date. They had dinner at Sushi Zushi, and have been inseparable ever since.
Three years later, Mason knew that he had found “the one” and he secretly began to plan his proposal. One evening, Caroline arrived home from work to find a plane ticket Mason had left her that morning before he departed for a business trip to San Antonio. It would take her to Austin where she and Mason would meet up and spend the weekend together. The moment she stepped off the plane, Mason greeted her with the first of several gifts – a Wendy’s Frosty and fries, commemorating their college days when Mason would bring a frosty and fries to share during class. That afternoon, upon checking into their hotel, Mason revealed the second gift – a bottle of Patron and two longhorn shot glasses (in remembrance of their first kiss). Afterwards, Mason took Caroline on a romantic stroll through campus, all the while clutching the third and final present. He stopped in front of the UT tower to present Caroline with a gorgeous engagement ring and the promise of an exciting life together.
Mason is an in-house landman at Comstock Resources while Caroline teaches math and is a cheer sponsor at a Mesquite middle school. Both studied business at the University of Texas at Austin. The two will tie the knot on June 30, 2012 at the University Christian Church of UT in Austin. The celebration will continue with a reception at the Barr Mansion.
