Before meeting formally, Lauren and David bumped into one another several times as David cut through the gym where the cheerleaders rehearsed on his way to diving practice. A mutual friend’s birthday party would later set the scene for the first of many conversations. From high school sweethearts, to college graduates, Lauren and David spent the next eight years growing stronger as a couple.
On April 14th of 2012, David suggested they spend an afternoon at the Dallas World Aquarium. Lauren was so excited about the penguin (her favorite animal) feeding scheduled for 4:00 that she tried to rush through the tour. David had spoken with the aquarium beforehand and the penguin trainer led a penguin straight over to Lauren when the feeding display began. As the bird made its way over, Lauren noticed David dropping to one knee as he said, “Penguins only have one partner for their whole life, will you be my penguin and marry me?”
Lauren studied mechanical engineering at Texas Christian University and is now an engineer at Halliburton. David received his masters in accounting from Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business and now works for KPMG. They will marry on April 27th at Royal Lane Baptist Church and host their reception at the Bent Tree Country Club.
