Jackie Reitz & Patrick Spivey
This pair’s love story began online in the fall of 2010. As single parents, Jackie and Patrick wanted to take things slow so they remained friends while Patrick was deployed to Afghanistan as a military police officer. The time difference aligned her mornings with his evenings so they found hours to chat each day. A career change limited Jackie’s availability for a while and the couple began to lose touch. In July of 2011, Patrick reached out to Jackie via e-mail letting her know that he would be passing through Dallas on his way home to Wichita Falls. They set dinner plans and immediately rekindled their old flame.
Two years later, Jackie and Patrick got lost in a mix of construction detours just outside of the DFW airport. Around 1:00 a.m. they decided to just park their car in an abandoned parking lot and dance the night away to their favorite songs. Though he struggled to find the same spot again, that parking lot is exactly where Patrick proposed just a few weeks later.
The bride considered the photographer her biggest priority so the first thing she did was call her friend Colton with SixFourteen Photography. Once she was sure the pictures would be perfect, she began planning a gorgeous DIY wedding, careful to keep each detail from looking too “homemade”. From the custom gown, to the S’mores bar, every detail fell into place just in time for Jackie and Patrick to walk hand-in-hand down the aisle.
