Erin Finegold & Justin White

Erin Finegold & Justin White

Erin and Justin met through friends while playing cards at Greenville Bar & Grill in January of 2013. However Justin was dating someone at the time, so romantic sparks didn’t fly just yet. Cut to St. Patrick’s Day, and this time Erin and Justin didn’t play any games. They started dating and quickly fell in love.

Justin made it official with a romantic dinner at Boulevardier in the Bishop Arts District followed by a surprise photo shoot on the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. “It was a cold, clear night and the downtown skyline is one of my favorite things,” Erin explains. As they walked down the pedestrian street bridge, Justin got down on one knee and a photographer was there to capture the sweet scene.

For the wedding day on October 24, 2015, Justin and Erin focused on fun. This mantra rang true in all of their choices from the lively band and whimsical food choices to the light-hearted “Love & BBQ” reading at the ceremony. All the plans were perfectly in place; however, fourteen inches of rain resulted in a tented rehearsal dinner, stranded family members, an indoor ceremony, and a last-minute decision for the fireworks surprise. But even these unforeseen circumstances didn’t rattle the couple. “He [Justin] didn’t flinch, even for a moment. Or even if he did, I didn’t see it. And that’s how I stayed calm through the entire weekend,” says Erin.

With their hearts set on an outdoor ceremony at sundown, Erin and Justin called on Kristin Butler from Fabulous Fetes and Dr. Delphinium to bring the aesthetic inside: They dimmed the lights and lit hundreds of candles to cast a romantic glow. For the decor, the couple played on their last names—White and Finegold—for their white-and-gold aesthetic.

Erin’s advice to other brides who may run into a few wedding day hiccups? “Don’t sweat the small stuff. If it rains 14 inches, you’re still going to get married! And if he’s the right one, then everything will be ok,” Erin says.
