Courtney Corbeille & David Krauss

Courtney, a Texas native, was living in New York City starring in Broadway’s “Bring It On: The Musical.” On a night off, she and a friend went to a nearby bar to watch her alma mater, The University of Oklahoma, play football. David, a Boston native who was visiting New York, saw Courtney from across the room and offered to buy her a drink. At first, Courtney played hard to get, “knowing I would never meet a good guy at a bar,” she says. However, the night sparked a three-year cross-country romance, with David eventually moving to Dallas to be with Courtney in her home state. On June 2, 2015, David asked Courtney to marry him in at his parent’s home in Cape Cod, complete with a twinkling Christmas light display spelling out “will you marry me?”

On July 2, 2016, the couple married at Perkins Chapel on the campus of Southern Methodist University, followed by a soiree at The Carlisle Room. “When we did our site visit to The Carlisle Room, we were blown away by the beauty in the Art Deco 1930s-style decor of the main lobby. Vaulted ceilings with black and gold accents brought the space to life, and we knew we wanted to expand on this ivory, black, and gold color scheme,” explains Courtney. She dressed her bridal party in black and chose white floral arrangements that “popped.”

To the guests’ surprise, Courtney and David had been planning a choreographed dance. “Being a professional dancer myself, it took a lot of patience to work with David on his memory and movement, but we had a blast in the process,” she says. The bridesmaids joined and spelled out “love” with their silver pom poms. At the end of the dance, three of Courtney’s former teammates hoisted her up, and she ended the dance towering above the guests in a cheer stunt. “When the applause began, my heart was so full,” says Courtney.

They were treated to yet another performance when Broadway star Ryann Redmond serenaded the couple with the song “At Last.” “Guests demanded an encore, so she sang live again later in the night, wowing with a stellar rendition of Whitney Houston’s ‘I Will Always Love You,'” says Courtney.
