Lauren Otis & Chase Davis

Lauren Otis & Chase Davis

Lauren and Chase both attended Baylor, but during her college years, Lauren was more interested in books than anything else. While Lauren admits knowing of Chase before they met,  he did not know of her— they laugh that it’s likely due to Lauren spending a little too much time in the library.

When they finally met, it was at an alumni tailgate. However, things didn’t go quite as Chase had hoped. After six months of Chase’s persistent wooing, Lauren finally agreed to a first date. Neither wanted to part after a carefree mini golf date, so they continued the day on a bench at Lakeside Park. The conversation came so easily and from that moment, that park bench became a special place for them. It was on that same bench that Chase later asked Lauren to “spend forever together.”

Their October 1, 2016, wedding at the Abilene Country Club was a sea of white and gold, filled with orchids, and lit by the romantic glow of custom candelabras. The champagne bar was complete with a floral topper and bubbles elegantly suspended above. As an homage to Lauren’s father’s name and the flowers at her parent’s wedding, they incorporated the stephanotis flower for the perfect touch of family and tradition.

The familial influence didn’t end there when Lauren’s brother fulfilled a childhood promise:  after a decade hiatus from performing, he sang “The Prayer” as Lauren and Chase lit the unity candle. “It was the most special gift anyone could’ve ever given me,” says Lauren.

Another cherished moment was when Chase surprised Lauren by taking center stage to sing his favorite song “Sky Full of Stars”. Lauren joined and cheered him on. Looking back, she says, “I will never forget that joy.”

They ended the best day of their lives, as every couple should, jumping on a private jet and heading home to Dallas.

After such a seamless event, her best piece of advice for fellow brides, customize your dress. Lauren wore her dress three different ways— strapless, with straps, and with a jacket. You’ll have multiple looks with one dress and stay comfortable during every phase of your big day.
