As many of you know, most of us don’t wake up in the morning wedding ready. There is a lot of work involved. You have to pamper, primp, and perfect your own look, as well as those of all your bridesmaids. We’ve rounded up tips for a DIY spa day for your bridal party – you get the same effects without breaking the bank. Plus, it’s fun!

To kick off the spa day, start with a flute of champagne for everyone. We are celebrating, after all! Then, bring out your face masks – you can even put cucumber over the eyes to soften any lines. Leave the face masks on for about twenty minutes, and then rinse. Face masks can be sourced from any drug or beauty store of choice.

While you wait for the face masks to dry, start the mani/pedi portion of the evening. Whip out the manicure set: it’ll have nail clippers, files, buffers, etc. It’s best to follow this order when manicuring your nails: remove any existing polish, buff and clip nails, push cuticles back, exfoliate hands, apply the base coat, then the polish and top coat. To keep a sense of uniformity, you might want to use the same color for all the bridesmaids – a subtle pink or nude would be perfect. For your own nails, it depends on how bold you want to be! It’s your day and your choice.

Once you’ve rinsed the face masks, it’s time for hair masks! These have only recently become popular, but we’ve found that they do wonders for dry or damaged hair. We suggest “It’s a 10 Hair Mask;” your whole bridal party can share the same bottle. Leave these in for 6-7 minutes and then rinse. If you want to splurge on one thing for this spa day, try bringing in a masseuse for an hour or two. This way, you and your bridesmaids get the full experience of having a day at the spa, all in the comfort of your own home.

Next, it’s time for the tan! Apply tanning lotion liberally and evenly. Our drugstore go-to is Jergens, but if you want to splurge,  St. Tropez Bronzing Lotion works magic. There are different types for different skin tones, so be sure to keep your bridesmaids in mind. After this, you’ll glow like you’ve just come from a week on the beach – can you say bronze goddess?

Finally, enjoy your big day! Don’t let the stress of planning (or spending) get to you – with a DIY spa day, you’ll be looking picture perfect without having to empty your wallet.
