Devon Myers & Taylor Liedtke
Devon Myers is lovely. Long and lean, with blond hair and fair skin, the 25-year-old CPA was the very definition of natural beauty on her wedding day. And her wedding reflected her effortless style.
She married Taylor Liedtke on November 10, 2012, at the groom’s family’s farm in Sunnyvale, Texas.
Devon says she and Taylor knew they wanted to have their ceremony and reception somewhere really special to both of them, and she knew she wanted an elegant outdoor affair. After tossing around a few ideas, they thought of his family’s homestead. “Once we figured that out, it set the tone for everything else,” Devon says. “After we decided on the venue, it really came together.”
The farm has been in Taylor’s family for generations. Just 20 miles east of downtown, it’s a hidden oasis just off Town East Boulevard that takes you back to another time, Devon says. On the afternoon of the wedding, 250 well-dressed guests descended on the property, where the couple exchanged vows lakeside at sunset under an aged oak tree, a symbol of strength and longevity.
Devon’s vision for her wedding day was that of a timeless affair—nothing too trendy—grounded in nature. To that end, the bride chose a neutral palette of champagne, soft gray, ivory, cameo, and moss green.
The groom and groomsmen dressed in gray suits; the bridesmaids wore long dresses in champagne. Table linens were a shade of brown, and centerpieces included natural elements, such as clear glass vases and slices of tree trunks. Bouquets and table arrangements were a tonal and textural mix of pale garden roses and ranunculus, hydrangea pods, and sempervivum succulents. Though a tent was put up for dinner and dancing, the sides were open and some furnishings and decor were brought outside in order to take advantage of the outdoor setting and perfect fall weather.
Sentiment and emotion are important to the couple, and they carefully incorporated personal touches into their night. They adorned a tree with wedding photos of their parents and grandparents, Devon wore her grandmother’s pearls around her wrist, and the couple left the wedding on the back of Taylor’s grandfather’s fire truck.
Devon says she knew after only a couple of dates that Taylor was the man for her. “It’s funny thinking back,” she says. “Right away we got along so well, and he made me laugh.”
