Kendall and Chad’s Night of Modern Elegance at the George W. Bush Presidential Library

Kendall Adams and Chad Scott met during spring break of 2012 in Destin, Florida. Kendall was an accounting student at the University of Arkansas, and Chad was studying industrial engineering and management at Oklahoma State University. The couple was introduced by Chad’s fraternity pledge brothers who were friends of Kendall’s in high school. They immediately felt a connection, and Kendall’s initial thought was: “This man checks all of my boxes, and I cannot imagine having not met him.” They knew then they’d have to make their long-distance relationship work.

Five years later, Kendall lived in an apartment close to downtown Dallas with great rooftop views. The couple planned to meet their friends on the roof for drinks before they all went to an event later that night. When Kendall got to the roof, she was greeted by Chad and hydrangeas, her favorite flowers. That’s when he popped the question. They then went to dinner with their families, and afterward, Chad had a surprise party planned with all of Kendall’s best friends who came from across the country to celebrate the couple’s big night.

Kendall describes her style as being “neutral and neat,” and she incorporated that into their wedding decor by creating a look of modern elegance with white florals and lots of glass and candles. Hydrangeas were a must, as Kendall used to pick hydrangea bouquets with her sister in her grandmother’s garden when they were children. She wanted something classic yet dramatic, so she decided on a bouquet of cascading orchids. While Kendall used her favorite colors, it was out of the question whether they would use Chad’s favorite Oklahoma State University shade of orange. However, she did design his groom’s cake with the classic orange OSU logo. “Marriage is compromise, right?” Kendall says.

Kendall’s ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ moment was a wildly unpredictable experience. She went into gown shopping with a vision of “flowy and crepe” but walked away with a “structured and beaded” style. “I don’t think a single item in my closet is beaded, but I chose a trumpet-style dress completely covered in beads, and couldn’t have been happier,” Kendall says.

The couple wed on August 25, 2018, at First United Methodist Church of Dallas. Kendall has an identical twin sister, and she spent the first 20 years of her life wondering if she would ever have a bond with someone like she has with Katherine. “A bond between twins is impossible to express,” Kendall says. When Katherine served as maid of honor and told Chad she was willing to share her sister with him, it meant the world to Kendall. Naturally, when Kendall tossed the bouquet out of the getaway car, Katherine caught it.

The couple’s reception was held at the George W. Bush Presidential Library, where their entrance was one of their favorite moments. They loved seeing their friends and family dressed in their gowns and tuxedos. “In my mind, they were the final piece of décor” Kendall says. Kendall’s dad welcomed everyone to the party with a moving speech that brought many to tears and ended with, “Let’s get this party started!” Motion Band had a wide variety of music selected, from country to motown and soul, they had everyone dancing the night away. “I will always have great memories of both of our parents’ friends screaming some oldies on the dance floor with our friends,” Kendall reminisces.
