The Kimbell Art Museum Serves as a Fitting Backdrop for Jen Morley and Clay Burner’s Early-Fall Affair

In October of their senior year at Texas Christian University—with two hours before a wedding he had to attend—Clay Burner invited Jen Morley to be his date. (She found out later that he had asked for a last-minute plus-one so he could invite her.) The couple wed on September 15, 2018, amid the stunning architecture of the Kimbell Art Museum, which they minimally accented with a palette of cool colors and light florals. For a private last dance, the band played “The Way You Look Tonight”—an ode to the bride’s favorite movie, My Best Friend’s Wedding—before they were sent off by their loved ones. “It was perfect,” Jen says.

Just a Spritz
Le Labo’s Fleur d’Oranger 27 fragrance was picked especially for Jen’s wedding day.

Simply Elegant
The bride wanted to set the tone for the simplicity of her wedding day from the very beginning, starting with her invitations.

Beauty in Symmetry
As an interiors and architectural photographer, Jen is naturally drawn to symmetry and knew it was naturally present at the Kimbell. The guests’ chairs were kept simple and symmetrical to match the vibe of the venue.

Leafy Greens
Florist Maxine Owens of Max Owens Design listened to the bride’s vision of having florals be the centerpiece of the entire room. Floral accents were used to frame the cake, as well.

Take a Bow
Jen’s gown was by designer Nardos Imam of Nardos Design and featured a deconstructed bow on the back and removable tails on the train. The look was just the right combination of classic and modern.

Skies of Blue
Jen cites her and Clay’s love of nature for inspiring their blue and green color palette, which informed the bridesmaids’ dresses, bouquet ribbons, accent furniture, and more. The bridesmaids were asked to choose their own dresses from an array of pastel blues, teals, and taupes. Jen favors the mix-and-match look saying, “it’s more natural and not too contrived.”
