A custom-designed gown, whether it’s a wedding gown, rehearsal dinner dress, or mother of the bride or mother of the groom gown, begins with the same process. During the first meeting with Patti Flowers, information will be gathered about your wedding, location, date, personal style, and the vision for your wedding. Do you envision a traditional wedding, modern, romantic, or organic? We’ll start there.

Patti sketches possibilities during the discussion and pulls fabrics and embellishments, making adjustments to the sketches along the way. When the design is decided upon and measurements are taken, the dress is made first in muslin, which is inexpensive cotton fabric. This will be used as the pattern for your gown. During this fitting, design changes can be made to complement your personal look and capture your vision.

Next, the design is cut into the actual fabric. Patti Flowers will schedule as many fittings as needed to get the proper fit. Once again, further design adjustments can be made. Embellishments, jewelry, shoes, and veils are all discussed to complement the overall design.

Since most brides and moms lose a bit of weight before the wedding day, we prefer another fitting at least two weeks before the wedding. Then, final adjustments are made, and the gown is pressed, prepared, and delivered to the wedding venue on the big day.

Patti Flowers uses the finest imported fabrics and hand-beaded details. All gowns are made by the master artisans in her Dallas studio. The design will evolve as you work closely with Patti and her team on your one-of-a-kind couture gown.
