Good Branding: “I wanted the stationery to be playful and play off the ranch,” says planner Shannon Ducker of Shannon Rose Events. A custom cattle brand was chosen as the couple’s wedding logo, which can be seen throughout the wedding-day design.

Howdy Y’all: Welcome boxes included chips and salsa, mini Tito’s bottles, Texas pecans, a branded door hanger, and custom bandanas.

Path to Heaven: “Romance was the focus of this pathway and we wanted to channel that through all of the senses,” Linda says. “We used delphinium for visual interest and blooming roses that gave the best scent.”

Coming Up Roses: “For Devyn’s bouquet we used garden roses, toffee roses, and soft white roses, accented with butterfly ranunculus, kangaroo paw, and scabiosa,” says Linda Whitten of Wedfully Yours Events. “Texture is one of my favorite design elements, so we incorporated fall foliage and grasses such as bunny tail and chocolate lace.”

Book Smarts: Each long table featured a taupe overlay, which fused the elegant and rustic aesthetics. The letterpressed menus were a book-inspired design, a nod to the bookstore where the couple had their first date.

Top Tier: The six-tier buttermilk cake from Crème de la Crème was designed to replicate the bridal gown’s stunning details. “The look of it when you first walked in to be seated was just spectacular,” Devyn says.

In Bloom: “We wanted to create a copious amount of visual interest, and we knew that textural elements were going to do it,” says Wedfully Yours owner and creative director Linda Whitten.

Star Light, Star Bright: Planner Shannon Ducker and Peerless Tents designed a venue space that featured a clear tent dressed in soft chiffon. “As a surprise, we installed twinkle lights to transform the space come nightfall,” Shannon says. “I kept thinking of the song we sing here in Texas, ‘The stars at night are big and bright…’”

With the Band(ana): Bandanas printed with a map of the venue doubled as masks for guests as well as party favors. “We have it hanging in our living room, and it’s so nice to have our little slice of Texas here in Sydney,” Devyn says.

Just Dance: “Our wish was to make sure everyone had as much to eat, drink, and dance as much as they wanted,” says Devyn. In10City Band kept guests entertained all night on top of a stage wrapped with a façade from Perch Event Decor.

A Sweet Surprise: One of the highlights of the evening was a heartfelt speech given by the groom where he announced that the couple was expecting. “Aside from my immediate family and a few close friends, nobody knew we were pregnant, so we couldn’t wait to announce it,” says Devyn. “Marc loves a good build up, and he had the whole room in suspense.”

Devyn Bernal and Marc Marano
November 15, 2020
Devyn Bernal and Marc Marano’s year-long friendship blossomed quickly into a life-long romance. After their first date to Devyn’s favorite bookstore in Los Angeles, the pair decided that night that they’d be together forever. “We were so lucky to have had a year of friendship under our belt,” Devyn says. “Once we chose to date each other, we were inseparable.” After Marc proposed at the same bookstore, a whirlwind seven-week wedding planning process commenced. The couple planned to move back to Marc’s native Australia, but first, they wanted to share their nuptials with Devyn’s Texas friends and family. On November 15, 2020, not only did they say “I do,” they also announced that they were expecting a baby with a touching speech by the groom. “It was epic,” Devyn says. “Even the band was crying.”
The couple settled on a ranch-style wedding to celebrate with Devyn’s Texas-based friends and family before moving to Australia. The venue in Mineral Wells, Texas, was the perfect backdrop for the reception that was equal parts laid-back and elegant. “Everyone who attended was dressed in their best outfits but ate and partied like only a wild group in Texas can do,” says the bride.
“Romance was the focus of this pathway and we wanted to channel that through all of the senses,” Linda says. “We used delphinium for visual interest and blooming roses that gave the best scent.” Wedfully Yours Events also implemented textural fillers to soften the overall feel of the aisle design. “This gave Devyn a stunning pathway to meet her new husband,” Linda says.
Flowers—both lush blooms and textural elements—were placed in almost every corner of the tent, from the table settings and the reception entrance to an installation above the dance floor. “We wanted to create a copious amount of visual interest, and we knew that textural elements were going to do it,” says Wedfully Yours owner and creative director Linda Whitten.
