It’s the Groom’s Day (Hear Us Out!)

It’s his day…

From suits and suites to personalized cakes, your big day should be just as special for your husband-to-be.

…to show off his style style

We love when grooms take risks with their matrimonial wardrobes, like these gents who weren’t afraid to go bold with color. For Mary Bumpass and Austin Diamond’s nuptials, the groom’s blue-and-green combo stood out elegantly against the white backdrop of the Adolphus’ French Room while tying in with the bridesmaids’ emerald gowns. The dusty pink suit, Bewketu Ashenafi donned for his barn-chic wedding to Kaitlyn Cummings played to the soft, romantic tones of the day’s decor. And grooms looking for a cool yet subtle option can take a page from Jack Harries’ playbook. He wore a timeless and dapper deep green velvet jacket for his White Sparrow wedding to Haley Woerner.

…to bond with his buds

With a recent uptick in DFW venues featuring dedicated areas that couples and their attendants can spend time in before the ceremony, many of these spaces are taking a new approach geared towards men. What groom wouldn’t want to spend the morning shooting hoops with his pals or playing pool while his bride-to-be gets primped and pampered? Whether it’s a bowling alley or a rooftop terrace bar, grooms and groomsmen alike can alleviate any pre-wedding jitters by hanging with the bros.

…to have his cake (and eat it, too)

Elegance and timelessness are at the top of most brides’ wedding wishlists, but when it comes to groom’s cakes—a tradition that has taken on a life of its own—all bets are off! We love giving your groom an opportunity to showcase his personality and interests. Here are the stories behind two of our recent faves.

For his October 30, 2021 wedding to Corinn Figueroa, groom Jack Luckie—with help from his mother, Cathy—dreamed up this Kentucky mash–inspired cake that was brought to life by Panini Bakery. Jack and his family are ardent bourbon collectors, Bulleit being one of their favorite brands, so they chose to incorporate a barrel and bottle into the chocolate mousse cake’s design. The four-leaf clovers are a play on the groom’s last name.

For their November 20, 2021, reception, Emily Rogers and Jarmon Hicks wanted a cake to represent the groom’s favorite pastime and the site of the couple’s meet-cute: a crawfish boil. Lauren Kitchens of Fancy Cakes by Lauren delivered, also incorporating the couple’s dog, Tex, into the design. “The groom’s cake doesn’t play by the rules,” says Lauren. “I’ve taken the silliest groom’s cakes to the most formal weddings, and they always work.”
