Caroline chose the Thompson Dallas for its perfect blend of style and convenience, as it allowed all of their guests to stay in one place. For the wedding aesthetic, Caroline wanted a space filled with natural light. “The National Ballroom, with its amazing floor-to-ceiling windows, set the stage for an elegant urban feel,” she says.

A focal point for the wedding decor was coral charm peonies. Caroline wanted to balance their vibrant color with neutral tones, including soft blues and natural greens.

Caroline’s sister and mother accompanied her on her dress-shopping journey. She’d envisioned herself in something simple and timeless, and ultimately chose a Monique Lhuillier gown that made her feel like herself.

During the newlyweds’ first dance, they were treated to pyrotechnic cold works—an unexpected treat from Caroline’s parents. “It was the most joyous surprise of the night,” Caroline remembers.

These College Sweethearts Celebrated Their Big Day at Thompson Dallas

Caroline Gould and Chris Locher’s love story began at the University of Georgia, where they started dating during their senior year. Five years later, Chris proposed to Caroline over a picnic lunch at her beloved family farm just outside of Dallas. Their wedding was filled with details that honored their college years, including a photo wall displaying memories of their undergrad days. Before joining their guests, the couple enjoyed a private dinner from a perch that overlooked the reception space. “We had such fun watching everyone’s reactions from a bird’s eye view,” Caroline remembers, “especially the sound of my mom’s gasp as she entered the ballroom for the first time.”
