A Dallas Bride and Her Groom Take Over Sonoma Valley For Their Big Day

Lauren Woodward & Omid Cyrus Loloi
October 22, 2021

Although the Usher song might lead you to believe differently, people usually don’t find love in the club. But Lauren Woodward and Cyrus Loloi did. “Cyrus walked up to me and fed me a tiny bit of a line that I’ve since forgiven him for,” Lauren laughs. The two hit it off right away, bonding over their mutual love for travel and how close they are with their families. Nine years later, Cyrus popped the question on a family trip to Aspen, Colorado, picnicking at The Grottos waterfall.  Lauren said “Yes!” and immediately started planning their big day.

While Cyrus left most of the decisions up to Lauren, he did have one request—that they wed near Santa Clara, California, where he attended university. Lauren began taking scouting trips to find their perfect venue. “I was really looking for something that screamed Northern California,” says Lauren. Immediately upon visiting the Kunde Family Winery’s Boot Hill venue, with its rolling hills covered with grape vines and quintessential wine country views, she knew it was the place.

Although Cyrus only voiced one request, Lauren wanted their wedding to be just as special for him as it was for her. So she set to work incorporating little personal surprises for him throughout the big day. “My wedding planner was amazing because she just went along with all of it,” laughs Lauren. “I would tell her I want our wedding to be ‘timeless’ and ‘classic’ and then would throw in ideas of Drake songs played by our string quartet and a bottle-service club-like moment of our last name in big white letters carried around by all our friends as a nod to the night that we met in the club.” Indeed, her wedding party made their way down the aisle to classical renditions of Drake—an ode to the “part-Drake, part–Edgar Allan Poe” poem that Cyrus wrote and recited for her when he proposed. Lauren also made sure to serve pancakes and champagne at the reception, which acted as a nod to a running joke between the couple about the night they met. And finally, Lauren surprised Cyrus with a groom’s cake made to look like his favorite roll from the couple’s frequent date night spot, Yutaka.

Fast forward to wedding day, after all of Lauren’s careful planning, the threat of a “bomb cyclone” storm the morning of the wedding almost had the entire ceremony canceled. “We were just going to exchange our vows privately,” remembers Lauren. Thankfully, the weather turned on a dime, and the bride and groom were able to have the wedding of their dreams. “I told many people at the wedding when they would comment on the weather that I never ask ‘favors’ of my late father, but I said out loud to him on my wedding day, ‘If you can pull any strings up there, please give us the wedding day that you have always hoped for me,’” she remembers. “I truly think he had a hand in holding off this extreme weather for just those 12 hours.”

And so it was that on October 22, 2021, Lauren and Cyrus promised forever in an American-Persian crossover ceremony overlooking lush scenery of the winery’s estate. And one month later, the pair hosted a Dallas celebration at Cyrus’ family’s Design District showroom Loloi Found & Made, complete with a rug-laden cake, a killer charcuterie table, and the “Rod Stewart of Iran.”

The groom’s dapper tux was found in Highland Park Village at Ralph Lauren, while the bride chose a beaded Galia Lahav gown—featuring a detachable skirt overlay—from Stanley Korshak. “I got teary eyed when I tried my dress on,” says Lauren. “And I’m usually not a super emotional person, so I knew it was the one.”

For family and friends who couldn’t make it to the couple’s intimate California nuptials, Lauren and Cyrus decided to host a Dallas reception just one month after their big day. Cyrus’ father and founder of Loloi Rugs, Amir Loloi, transformed the Loloi Found & Made showroom in the Design District into the picture-perfect venue, complete with a cake donning one of the textiles from the “Lauren” collection, which created Cyrus for his bride. The showroom is available to rent for weddings and other special events. For more information, contact Jose Ramos at [email protected].
