Thinking Pink: Invitations by Hazelwood Paper Co. featured blush pink, a must-have color for the bride. “Janie loves pink,” says planner Shannon Ducker. “Anybody that knows her knows she’s a pink girl.”

Heart of Texas: Janie’s hometown of Canyon, Texas, served as the perfect setting for the couple’s outdoor ceremony. “I’d always wanted to get married at my family’s ranch,” Janie says. “I wanted it to be really personal.”

Country at Heart: Bride Janie is no stranger to the country-western lifestyle. Now a reporter for the Cowboy Channel, it was only right for her to incorporate a pair of custom City Boots into her wedding attire.

Lovely Landscape: Janie chose terra-cotta-toned velvet bridesmaid dresses to complement the scenery of the family ranch.

Perfect Pair: Taking photos with Jake was one of Janie’s favorite parts of their big day. “We had the most spectacular sunset with the most incredible colors. It was a really special moment,” Janie says.

Off the Land: Planner Shannon Ducker worked with florist Wedfully Yours to incorporate flowers that paired well with the natural landscape of Janie’s family ranch. The longhorn mount above the tent’s entrance belonged to Janie’s grandmother and acted as another nod to the couple’s ranching roots.

Tents and Treats: Staying true to the country-western theme, the newlyweds served a variety of Texas foods, from guacamole to beef tenderloin. The guests ate to their hearts’ content with buffet-style catering.

Janie Johnson & Jake Finlay
October 22, 2022
A prank ended in a surprise engagement for Janie Johnson—a fitting happily ever after orchestrated by her lighthearted beau, Jake Finlay. “Jake is the most unique person in the world. He’s a redheaded Australian and the funniest person on the planet, which is one of the things I love the most about him,” Janie says. The couple met through mutual friends, and after about four years of dating, Jake—claiming his best friend’s car had broken down—lured his bride-to-be to his aid, where he proposed with her late grandmother’s century-old ring. Janie’s rich family history was woven throughout the wedding celebration, from the use of her family’s stagecoach to a longtime family friend officiating the ceremony.
