Whether you’re due for some silver or it’s time for you to be gifted gold, all anniversaries—milestone or not—deserve to be done up right. Take our cues and go all-out, celebrating your love that lasts.
The Staycation
Celebrate with a just-the-two-of-you retreat in Dallas; we’ve got it all planned out. Stay at The Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek because it has everything you need in one spot. With world-class restaurants, live music on weekend evenings, a spa, pool, and fitness center, the Mansion is the perfect escape. Venture off-site and schedule a picnic at the Dallas Arboretum—with a custom menu from the Mansion’s chefs—or stay at the hotel and have dinner in their private wine cellar.
The Mansion offers complimentary sedan service within a 5 mile radius (as available). Within that area, you can see a show at the AT&T Performing Arts Center, wander the Dallas Museum of Art, or shop at Highland Park Village.
The Classy Night Out
Anniversaries call for more than a simple dinner date; make the evening extra special and pick one of these upscale Dallas restaurants. Afterward, catch a show at one of the nearby theatres.
Oak Cliff: Book a reservation at Lucia for an intimate and highly-coveted Italian dinner in the Bishop Arts District. Keep in mind, they are often booked months in advance, so make your plans early (you’ll thank yourself later). After dinner, sample chocolates nextdoor at Dude, Sweet, browse through the shops on Bishop Ave., or catch a show at the historic Kessler Theatre.
Downtown: Go all out romantic at the French Room in the Adolphus Hotel: the gilded, old-world decor will set the mood. After dinner, head to the AT&T Performing Arts Center to catch the broadway shows in town, or the Meyerson for an evening at the symphony.
Uptown: The wine flights and decadent cheese boards at Cru are great for savoring the food, and the private time together.. The atmosphere is laid-back and quiet, perfect for a romantic evening and good conversation. Afterward, attend one of the local productions at Theatre 3 to immerse yourself in the Dallas arts scene.
Highland Park: Lounge 31 brings beach-like, old-hollywood glamour to your dinner out. Harken back to the old days and catch a movie post-dinner at the Highland Park Village Theatre.
The Day-Date
Start the day with brunch at Dolce Riviera.
In the early afternoon, take a cooking class at Sur la Table or Central Market.
Before dinner, peruse the shops in West Village.
Try new things with an exotic dinner at Baboush or Namo.
End the night by watching a classic movie at home, like Casablanca, His Girl Friday, When Harry Met Sally or Sleepless in Seattle (browse the selections at Half Price Books or Movie Trading Company to find them).
The Getaway
And if staying in town doesn’t appeal to you, getaway to a quiet escape from the city and reconnect with your honey.
Our favorite spots: a tent-retreat about an hour outside of San Antonio or a bungalow at Cibolo Creek Ranch in the Chinati Mountains.
For an extra special addition, hire someone to photograph you and your spouse in the beautiful scenery (we have a directory of photographers). Nothing beats an updated couple’s portrait, at least when it comes to anniversary gifts.
