Your new Dallas date night spot has arrived. Sprinkles founder Candace Nelson has dipped her toe into the world of pizzerias with the launch of Pizzana, an L.A.–based pizza restaurant with a new local location on Knox Street. “This concept is what got me back into the food industry,” says Nelson. “I wanted to create desserts that played off American favorites while infusing them with Italian flavors.” Following this directive, she imagined a top-notch sweets menu for Pizzana, including her famous chocolate olive oil cake. And for the newest location, she created a Dallas-only dessert: a fruit crisp with marzipan and Texas bourbon-soaked apples.
The intimate, cozy atmosphere of Pizzana coupled with the unique pies and cocktail pairings make for the perfect going-out date night spot. “We wanted to make Pizzana a special place to eat, even if it was just for two,” says Nelson. But if you and your significant other are more apt to staying in, the pastry chef has just the recipe to make at-home dinner extra romantic. “The chocolate hazelnut mousse recipe is perfect for date night—it’s boozy, creamy, and decadent,” says Nelson.
