Many couples might feel alarmed at the thought of last-minute surprises. But when the location of Christina Kelly and Lane Hamilton’s spring ceremony changed just two days before the wedding, the couple adapted beautifully. What was intended to be an indoor church ceremony quickly pivoted, due to fluctuating COVID policies, to an outdoor “I do” on their reception venue’s golf course, complete with reconfigured design elements to complement the new location. Overall, the choice suited the bride’s initial vision for her day. “I just wanted it to be colorful and happy,” she says.

“Christina wanted to be different—she loved bold, bright, happy colors,” says planner Kirstin Godat of Kirstin Rose. “She loves the color green, so we incorporated green with our save the date and other paper goods to hint at our vibrant palette.”

Christina imagined she’d pick a simple silhouette, but when she tried on this Vera Wang gown, she knew it was the one. “I didn’t think I’d have that moment,” she remembers, “but I did.”
