The Couple
Christy Lizarraga and Josh Bryan attended competing schools—Christy, Southern Methodist University, and Josh, Texas Christian University. But that didn’t stop them from falling in love. After being connected on Match.com and their first date at Sip Stir Café in West Village over three years ago, they’ve managed to overcome their college rivalry and bond over their shared love for jazz music and Star Wars. Today, Christy works at the corporate offices of Gold’s Gym International and Josh keeps busy in the commercial real estate world with Fairview Farms Development and Tenant Real Estate Advisors.
The Proposal
On the most romantic day of the year, February 14, 2017, Josh cleaned the whole house and cooked the couple’s favorite meal: steak with baked potatoes. Following dinner, Josh gave Christy a Valentine’s Day card. Christy had no idea what was waiting for her inside. Josh had stuck a post-it note in the middle of it that read, “Lift me.” Underneath that post-it, was the question of a lifetime. As Christy read the words “Will you marry me?” Josh swiftly dropped down to his knee and pulled out the ring. Through the tears, Christy nodded “yes,” and now the happy couple is awaiting their big day.
The Wedding
The couple will be married on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at a destination wedding in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
