The Couple
A first date joined by your parents would normally sound disastrous, but for Elizabeth and Phil, it was a blessing in disguise. They shared many mutual friends at Texas Christian University due to their midwestern roots, but it wasn’t until a friendly carpool ride that the two finally crossed paths. After they shared that ride, Phil knew he had met the one.
He was determined to take Elizabeth to dinner, but with busy schedules, coordinating dinner seemed impossible. During the TCU family weekend, Phil finally found his window. He offered Elizabeth and her family his own game day tickets with the promise that she’d pick them up at the tailgate party that he and his family attended. Elizabeth took up Phil’s offer, the two met, and so did both of their families! As a thank you, Elizabeth’s mother invited Phil to join them for dinner. He had already eaten but knew better than to pass up on a chance at dinner with Elizabeth. Three years later, the two joke that their first date together was that night after the game, joined by Elizabeth’s parents.
Elizabeth graduated from Texas Christian University with a bachelor’s in communication studies. Phil studied business administration at the University of Iowa and recently received his MBA with an emphasis on energy at Texas Christian University.
The Proposal
For their third anniversary, the couple celebrated with a trip to Laguna Beach in California. Countless childhood vacations were spent at the Montage Resort by Elizabeth and her family, so naturally, this spot was filled with cherished family memories. Little did Elizabeth know, a major memory was in the works. Phil took Elizabeth for a walk along the private beach, recalling the two’s favorite memories over the years together. With the sun setting, Phil got down on one knee and asked Elizabeth to marry him. The fairy tale evening was complete with a professional sunset photo shoot and dinner overlooking the ocean. In Elizabeth’s words, “He nailed it!”
