The Couple
Lauren, a native of Dallas, moved back after graduating from Oklahoma State. When she is not working (she is a senior account executive at an advertising agency), Lauren loves caring for her Australian Shepherd, Jasmine, doing yoga, and going to concerts. Kevin studied journalism at Gonzaga University and is an avid sports fan (he’ll never say no to a round of golf). He landed in Dallas after working at various technology firms in Phoenix and Washington, D.C. It took Bumble, the dating app, to bring this adventurous couple together. After weeks of chatting on the app, Lauren and Kevin finally decided to go on a date. As they say, the rest is history.
The Proposal
Last winter, Kevin planned a ski trip to his family’s cabin in Sunriver, Oregon. A couple of friends were meant to meet them there. The second day there, they skied and then went home to rest before dinner, so they could enjoy their evening before their friends’ late arrival. They had some time before their dinner reservation, so Kevin took Lauren to his favorite place in town: a dreamy bridge overlooking a snow river. At the center of the bridge, Kevin turned Lauren around, looked her in the eye, and said, “I have something to tell you: I’ve been lying for the past three months.” He then proceeded to tell her that their friends were not coming, and that he wanted this weekend to be about him and Lauren. He got down on one knee, and continued the proposal. Unbeknownst to Lauren, a photographer was there to capture the moment. At their dinner reservation, Kevin had another surprise: both of their families were there waiting to celebrate the engagement. The newly engaged couple spent the rest of the trip skiing, exploring, and celebrating with their families.
The Wedding
Lauren and Kevin will be married on April 18, 2018 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, followed by a reception at Union Station.
