Engaged: Norah Meier & Steven Maroulis

The Couple

It all started 7 years ago, when Steven friended Norah on Facebook. They had never met, but had lots of mutual friends. Then, last year, Norah took an “Eat, Pray, Love”-inspired solo trip to Greece. “I had the time of my life and came back refreshed and ready to conquer the world,” she says. “During this time, Steven and I both started liking our posts more and more. Then he posted something about relationships, which I commented on. The next thing I know, I have a message in my inbox asking me out.” The couple had three great dates, but Norah was still on her high from her trip and wasn’t exactly open to a relationship. She mentioned this to him on the third date, to which he responded: “I can wait!” Her jaw dropped. And by the fourth date, Norah admits she was already head over heels for him.

The Proposal

Norah describes their engagement as a complete fairytale, and it certainly helps that it was set in the city of love. The couple went to Paris for a friend’s wedding and decided to make a long trip out of it. They shopped, ate, and toured their way through city. On the night of the proposal, they ate dinner at Le Cafe Marley at the Louvre and afterwards headed out for a stroll. As they walked by the iconic glass pyramids, Steven stopped, pulled out a custom hand-painted Louis Vuitton ring trunk, and asked Norah to marry him. He had also secretly booked the photographer from his friend’s wedding to capture the special moment.

But Steven had even more surprises planned. The very next day he booked an “engagement-moon” to Cannes and Monaco for the weekend. “Upon our return, he surprised me again by having the photographer take our engagement photos all over Paris,” Norah says. “Did I mention he is the love of my life?”

The Wedding

The two will wed on September 3, 2018, on the Athenian Riviera just outside of Athens, Greece. The irony of the situation? “I took that amazing trip to Greece, and am now getting married there, to my fiancé who is from Athens,” Norah says. “It’s funny how things work out. It was destiny!”
