Following the ceremony, Colin and Gina’s guests gathered outside Rosine Hall and enjoyed sips of champagne among the Arboretum’s autumnal trimmings.

This three-tiered confection was adorned in an edible gold-leaf finish as well as gum paste sugar flowers cascading down the front. Lauren Kitchens of Fancy Cakes by Lauren shares: “[Gina] showed me her wedding gown, floral design, and the overall look of the decor. We pulled elements from everything and it really worked great.”

“We used two gold-footed urns that flanked the altar,” says Alexa Morton of Branching Out Events. “Gina was so trusting and open to a variety of flowers that we were able to provide what was best in season.”

“Color Box Letterpress gave us this moody, floral scene for our paper products, which is what we used as the inspiration for the rest of the wedding,” says the bride.

The reception tables were topped with arrangements featuring roses, oak and magnolia foliage, and hanging amaranthus for a texture-heavy look that reflected the harvest season. “We wanted to extend the floral theme from the outside to the inside,” says the bride.

Taking inspiration from a hand-painted veil she had seen while out shopping, this creative bride pulled out her paint supplies and tried it for herself. “I wanted to bring something into the wedding that was very me,” says Gina. It turned out beautifully, as the floral train complemented the ambiance of the Dallas Arboretum.

The glowing October sunset over the lake at the Dallas Arboretum made for a picturesque backdrop to say “I do.” Gina notes: “Once we saw that space it was a done deal. It was such a unique spot that we couldn’t have imagined doing it anywhere else.”

October 26, 2019
Five years prior to their autumn ceremony, Gina Priolo and Colin Peterson met at a party at the University of Texas. “It was the second semester of our senior year, so we almost missed each other,” Gina jokes. Thank goodness they didn’t, as the two dated following their graduation, despite Colin traveling around the country for work. After years of courtship over long distance, they gathered together with friends and family and exchanged vows overlooking White Rock Lake on October 26, 2019. “It was pretty picture-perfect, that’s for sure,” the bride reminisces.
Planning a fall wedding? Why not let Mother Nature dictate your color scheme? Eschewing the classic all-white wedding, Gina wanted a vibrant, autumnal affair that included deep, lush hues to echo the season. Using their invitations as inspiration, Gina incorporated moody tones and lush leaves throughout her selections, choosing mauve bridesmaid dresses and even hand-painting florals on her veil to tie into the theme. Of course, flowers played a major part in the overall aesthetic, as florist Alexa Morton of Branching Out Events blended bold blooms with fall foliage to stunning effect. “I pulled a lot of PeeGee hydrangeas, hanging amaranthus, and taupey-gold-colored roses to bring that autumnal tone in,” Alexa says. “They created a real warm, inviting palette.”
First Dance: “Beyond” by Leon Bridges Guests: 225 Specialty Cocktail: “Colin is a big bourbon guy, so we had Old Fashioneds available. I wanted to pull some Italian tradition into the day, so we used little glass soda bottles to make gin cocktails in.”
