Jessica Hill and Kyle Howard
September 19, 2020
Jessica Hill and Kyle Howard’s relationship started with a postponement, after both came down with the flu prior to their first date. So when faced with the decision of how to proceed once COVID-19 threatened their wedding plans, the couple had no intentions of waiting to tie the knot. “We were going to get married whether it was just our parents in our backyard or the full 180 guests,” Jessica says. “We were ready.” The changes didn’t come easy for Jessica, who took to heart her mom’s advice after months spent planning a one-of-a-kind celebration: “It’s OK to grieve the wedding you thought you’d have.” Fortunately, with a few changes—cutting the guest list, moving the ceremony outside—the Gucci-Garden-themed nuptials were able to commence. At the night’s end, the pair walked home to their downtown apartment—a short stroll that felt more like walking on air. “There was a lot of heartbreak because of COVID,” Jessica says. “But on the day itself, we didn’t feel that at all.”
