For her wedding to John Templeton on March 30, 2019, Katie Jones didn’t want just one color—she wanted them all. She also wanted magical moments throughout. So, Pop Parties’ Molly Rasmussen created something unforgettable for the couple’s 300 guests. The reception featured whimsical touches, splashy florals, twinkle lights—and a unicorn with a fairy. “The whole wedding,” says Molly, “was designed to have guests ask, ‘Did we just dream about that party?’” But the evening was not without sentiment: The groom’s mom, paralyzed in a swimming accident years prior, learned choreography so she and her son could share a dance. As Molly recalls, “There wasn’t a dry eye in the room.”
Fancy Cakes by Lauren designed the watercolor cake to match the invitation suite.
The invitations’ custom, handpainted artwork ensured that no two invites were the same.
Partygoers were treated to custom maracas made into moons, stars, and even replicas of the bride and groom and their two dogs.
The floral design on the custom dance floor mimicked the artwork on the invitations.
In keeping with the reception’s dreamlike theme, Lark the unicorn helped pass out late-night snacks and dance-floor props.
The couple’s getaway car—a ruby-red vintage Cadillac convertible—was chosen for its vibrant color.
