The Couple
A shared love for Texas country music and their dogs (she has two rescue mutts, and he has a yellow lab) brought Dallas wedding planner Kristin Mullen and college baseball coach Clay Cox together when they first met at a mutual friend’s birthday. Kristin, owner and lead planner at Events by Kristin, is from Flower Mound, Texas. She graduated from Midwestern State University with degrees in mass communication and public relations. Clay, head baseball coach at Paris Junior College, is from West, Texas. He attended Texas A&M, where he studied kinesiology and received two masters: one in coaching and athletic administration, and the other in physical education. The two love traveling and, of course, taking their dogs for walks and attending country music concerts.
The Proposal
After dating for a little over a year, Clay proposed. In early May, a few of Kristin’s best friends planned a picnic lunch at the Dallas Arboretum after church. After the picnic, Kristin and her friends began walking through the gardens. That’s when she spotted Clay. “I thought he was out of town recruiting for baseball and never expected to see him!” she says. After he got down on one knee, he surprised Kristin yet again with an engagement party, where family and friends traveled in from all over the country to celebrate. “It was truly the most perfect day,” Kristin says.
The Wedding
The couple will be married on December 1, 2018 at Arlington Hall. The morning ceremony will be officiated by Marty Younkin of Love Notes Weddings and will be followed by a brunch reception with a performance by Jordan Kahn.
