Lauren Wetzel and Peter Hogue met in Mumbai, India, while part of a business fellowship program for Deloitte Consulting. During business school, the two wavered between friends and something more. But six years after their initial meeting, Peter gave Lauren a letter he had written on the tickets from their first date and got down on one knee. On May 4, 2019, they wed at the Nasher Sculpture Garden. The couple now resides in New York’s Upper West Side, but they “love that Dallas has such a special place in our hearts.”
Both Lauren and Peter wanted their reception to have the feel of a dinner party. They used a variety of vases, jugs, and bowls in mercury glass, crystal, Spanish glass, and copper. Lavender was also placed in the napkins to add more detail.
A romantic night spent dancing under the lights in our hearts.” in the Nasher’s garden inspired Lauren’s bridal look. “The texture of the dress felt like the perfect one for the garden environment” she says.
The couple worked with their planner to choose loose, organic florals with shades of purple and pops of blush and cream.
At the celebration, Lauren wanted to share with her guests something from her time in Dallas, and Topo Chico happened to be on of her favorite beverages. The idea of providing extra hydration before the big night was wise—thus the “hydration station” was filled with bottles of Topo Chico.
