Meal Planning for the Morning of Your Wedding

Although the walk down the aisle is only a short distance, your wedding day will be more of a marathon than a sprint. Proper sustenance is in order the morning of your marriage to ensure you don’t wobble or shake—save that for the dance floor at the end of the day! 

Kayley George, Bells and Barbell’s registered dietitian, helped us meal plan as if we were getting married at 3 p.m: She gave us her healthy recommendations for breakfast, lunch, and snacks.

“The most important thing to remember when eating on your wedding day is to be mindful of food that might cause bloating and water retention such as salty foods. Drink water with every meal and in between as well,” George says. “Staying hydrated is key to feeling your best, as it boosts your energy and keeps you mentally strong. Eat to energize rather than starve yourself as a last-minute effort. Beauty radiates when your body is properly fueled.” 

8 a.m.: Scrambled eggs and toast with a glass of water or cup of black coffee

“A couple of scrambled eggs will provide protein and healthy fats, and pairing them with toast will add healthy carbs, which are natural energy boosters,” George says. “If you are in need of an extra energy boost, black coffee is a safe option.”

12 p.m.: Grilled chicken breast and vegetables with a glass of water

“As crunch time approaches for the wedding, it’s important to continue to fuel your body and keep your energy levels high. For lunch, continue to focus on high quality protein and getting your healthy carbs from vegetables,” George says. “If you are running on little time, it can be as easy as heating up a pre-cooked chicken breast and microwaving some frozen veggies.”

2 p.m.: Banana and nut butter with a glass of water

“If you find your stomach growling or your energy levels falling, packing a banana and nut butter can be a life saver at any point of the day,” George says. “The banana will provide you with the energy you need, while the nut butter will provide another healthy protein to keep you feeling fuller longer—it will aid in controlling blood sugar levels so that you don’t experience blood sugar spikes as you go throughout your big day.”
