Moments We Love From Real Weddings

On your wedding day, it’s often the little things that lead to the biggest memories. We asked nine couples to tell us the stories behind their favorite photos.

Kate Padgitt and Andrew Bowman

Kate Padgitt chose an appropriate Sareh Nouri dress for her wedding to Andrew Bowman on June 1, 2019. “While I loved every aspect of my gown, this bow was my favorite detail,” she says. “Once my mom and sister had fastened it, I think the reality of the day truly set in.”

Emily Holt and Stuart Ashmun

For their Bahamas wedding on June 9, 2018, Emily Holt and Stuart Ashmun took a second alone to themselves. “Just before our sendoff, this was a private moment shared at the bonfire that lit the entrance of our reception tent on the beach,” says the bride. “Closing the night under the midnight sky with the soft hum of the ocean is a feeling I will never forget.”

Claire Cobb and Brady Lick

The first time Claire Cobb tried on her wedding dress, she fell in love. “The funny part is, I was actually on a repeat visit to the bridal shop to decide between two other dresses,” she says. But she spontaneously tried on the Romona Keveza gown, and it was the one. She wore it proudly—complete with the sheer overlay seen here— when she wed Brady Lick on June 8, 2019.

Tyler Riola and Jessica Carrier

Groom Tyler Riola gets a little help from a groomsman prior to his wedding to Jessica Carrier on May 25, 2019. “Mitch was my roommate from college and as good a friend a guy could ask for. As he tied my bowtie and asked me how I was feeling, I realized in that moment that 20 months of engagement had finally come down to the finishing touch, and I was ready to see my bride and start the rest of our lives together,” he says.

Evan Howard and Chris Kuhner

Evan Howard grew up in Dallas and always dreamed of having her wedding at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. For her vows to Chris Kuhner on December 8, 2018, rain was in the forecast, but that didn’t stop them. “Chris and I believe in finding the positive in everything,” she says. “This is one of our favorite photos, and we would not have had this picture if it weren’t for the rain. Some even say rain on a wedding day is good luck!”

Robin Rivera and Juan Carlos Torres

Robin Rivera and Juan Carlos Torres kept things intimate at their ceremony on June 22, 2019, with 50 guests at the Fort Worth Water Gardens. “Each person passed their rings to provide a blessing by all,” says wedding planner Lottie Fowler of Grit & Gold Event Co. Afterward, the party headed to the Fort Worth Arts Center to join a larger group for cocktails, dinner, and dancing.

Lauren Branson and Blake Douglas

For her wedding to Blake Douglas on May 11, 2019, Lauren Branson wore a Sareh Nouri gown. “Putting the dress on for the first time on my wedding day made it so surreal,” she says. “I was so excited to marry my best friend and celebrate with our family and friends.”

Leslie Klein and Ben Blanchat

A long-distance courtship made this post-ceremony snap event sweeter for Leslie Klein and Ben Blanchat on August 17, 2019. “This was right after we walked back down the aisle,” says the bride. “While I loved planning our wedding, I spent a lot of time missing him. The feeling in that photo was the overwhelming joy and relief of knowing we would never be long distance again.

Kayla LaNasa and Brad Harfield

Bride Kayla LaNasa got more than she bargained for in her portraits during her wedding to Brad Harfield on March 23, 2019, at the Lucky Spur Ranch and Retreat. “We had an unexpected visitor during our photo shoot—guess he thought my flowers were so pretty, he needed a taste,” she says. “[It] definitely gave us a good laugh and cherished wedding memory!”

Sarah Slover and Morgun Brown

Before exchanging vows with Morgun Brown on June 1, 2019, Sarah Slover took a minute to read a note from her betrothed. “Reading the letter from my groom on our wedding day was very special and brought me to tears,” she says. “To realize our special day was finally here and reading what he wrote, I was truly overwhelmed with love and excitement.”
