A Sooner and a Longhorn Wed at the Adolphus Hotel

A Red River rivalry couldn’t keep Payton Boone (a Sooner) and Brandon Kaplan (a Longhorn) apart. After learning to like one another’s team, they also fell for each other. An intimate New Year’s Eve proposal preceded their “magical and romantic” wedding on October 22, 2016. Payton’s mother gave her a sixpence for her shoe and a letter from her late grandmother, which added to the fairytale day. The celebration included the couple’s favorite food—chocolate—by way of mini shakes, and the groom’s cake nodded to a team they could agree on: the Texas Rangers.
