Family Ties: Talent runs in the Sabatino family—Sarah designed and calligraphed the invitations, while her mom made her gown. “We’re really close,” Sarah says of her mom. “So it was special to have her be such a big part of the day.”

Big-Screen Beauty: As a florist, Katie was inspired by the soft color palette juxtaposed with splashes of neon in the Sofia Coppola film Marie Antoinette. “It’s like the equivalent of wearing Converse under your ballgown,” says Katie. “I love to create floral designs that are beautiful to look at, but also provocative. They start a conversation.”

Perfect Timing: Sarah started working with florist Katie Arani from Billie Ball & Co. just six weeks before the wedding. “I actually loved it because the design and color scheme were super fresh in my mind,” says Katie, who incorporated daffodils, blooming branches, and tulips.

Just Their Style: Sarah wanted her bridesmaids to feel comfortable and confident, so she gave them free rein to find dress silhouettes and colors to fit their individual styles. “They brought a couple options the day of, and we had so much fun laying everything out together,” says Sarah.

Pride of Place: As soon as Sarah and Matt saw the 19th floor ballroom of the Adolphus, they knew it was the venue for them. “It has so much character,” says Sarah.

Sarah Sabatino & Matt Newville
February 6, 2021
When Sarah Sabatino and Matt Newville began long-distance dating, Matt would write letters to Sarah—a tradition they continued even once proximity was no longer an issue. That sense of romance was on display at their February 6, 2021, nuptials at The Adolphus’ 19th Floor Ballroom, which Sarah chose for its character and class.
Leading up to the big day, Sarah relinquished a lot of control to her team so she could focus on what really mattered. “I gave a lot of creative freedom to the vendors to not allow things to become overwhelming,” she says. “I tried to remember what the day is all about, and if things go wrong, you can always fix it.”
