See Chinoiserie-Inspired Details From This Three-Day Affair at a Texas Ranch

Clara Beecherl & Charlie Legg

May 10, 2025

While there were no fireworks back when Clara Beecherl and Charlie Legg met as students at Highland Park High School, something sparked after college graduation, and they became an item. When Charlie popped the question two-and-a-half years later, Clara, an interior designer, accepted and got down to business planning a party that was, well, a banger.

“I always wanted to get married at my family’s place in Walnut Springs, but I didn’t think it was realistic,” Clara says. “We looked at Maine, where Charlie’s family lives, but the logistics weren’t adding up, so that’s when I proposed the ranch.” This time it was Charlie’s turn to accept.

With the location locked in, Clara worked with event planner Michelle Rago and designer Todd Fiscus to marry her love of pattern play with the lay of the land. “All the nature and wildflowers and architecture helped build the vibe,” Clara says. “Todd did a great job of balancing those elements with my love for chinoiserie.”

In fact, everything from the banquettes and the bar to the florals and flooring more than met the designer’s sky-high expectations. “Sitting at dinner, I felt like I was on a set and a part of a play,” she says, noting it was complete with an adoring audience. “When Charlie and I walked out to the dance floor, everyone stood up and surrounded us. It was the best feeling in the world. I will never forget it, and I know Charlie won’t either.”

Florals To Go

Guests were encouraged to belly up to custom bars crafted from grain cabinets, which were then filled with flowers and outfitted with elegant lamps. “Bars feel sexier with a little light,” says Todd, who notes that the white glass “made it feel Western ranch dime store gone five-star experience.”

Buttery Bridal

In a wink to the yellow flower adorning the bride’s cowboy boots, Todd Fiscus created a bouquet packed with buttery blooms.

It’s in the Details

Clara worked with her wedding planner, Michelle Rago, and stationer TPD Design House to create an invitation suite that gave a nod to the fabrics on her banquettes as well as her to wedding-day boots.

Table Talk

The textile-driven palette drove the abundant arrangements on the tables as well as the overall themes for the tables. “Some had more brown or blue, and others were more heavily focused on green or pink,” Todd says. “We had some Ginori dishware mixed in with Mottahedeh, along with simple wood chargers. It was a constant balancing act.”

Holding Pattern

Wedding designer Todd Fiscus of Todd Events shares how he wove in the fabrics of his client’s life.

Thanks to her day job as an interior designer, Clara Beecherl came prepared with a unique sense of style, samples of her favorite fabrics, and inspiration photos for her first meeting with wedding designer and producer Todd Fiscus of Todd Events. “She has an incredibly good eye, so it was my job to help her tell the story she wanted to tell,” he says. Once client and designer settled on an Asian-inspired prairie feel for the affair, Todd incorporated some of Clara’s favorite motifs into custom designs on the banquettes, the dance floor, the cake, and a vibrant mural behind the bandstand.

Clara’s personal history played a role in the tabletop design. Clara’s mother collects dishware, so Todd created five different place settings that evoked a feeling that her china closet had been raided for the day. The variety conveys a sense of created-over-time nostalgia, but it’s also practical. “When you have a guest list in the high 300s, it’s hard to get that many of any one thing!” he says.
