TCU graduates Taylor Prince and Malcolm See met at the Sigma Chi fraternity house, but it took a little time for their friendship to bloom into romance. After college, the pair moved to Malcolm’s hometown of Boston. While getting ready for a fun night out, Malcolm put on “With This Ring” by The Platters. “I, being oblivious, said ‘What a catchy song!’” laughs Taylor. After a twirl, she noticed he was down on one knee. “I didn’t even let him put the ring on my finger before grabbing it,” she recalls. The surprises continued when Taylor realized Malcolm had arranged for their families to join them at dinner, followed by more celebrating with friends.
For their wedding on August 25, 2018, the couple opted for a first look, which proved to be one of the most poignant moments of the day. “We often look back on that time and remember the suspense, the nerves, the love, and know that when we saw each other, there was no doubt in our minds that we were making the best decision of our lives,” she says. But, as Taylor shares, that sweet memory isn’t without humor: “Neither of us are afraid show our emotions and I have to admit those photos will never surface, as I am one ugly crier!”
To create the outdoor wedding look without the stress over weather, the couple set out to create a “secret garden” in the ballroom of the Four Seasons Las Colinas. Their vision was a “natural, romantic, and classic” wedding that would incorporate both their tastes. Thanks to planner Julian Leaver and designer Emily Clarke, that vision became a reality with a black-and-white checkered dance floor, candles, and lily of the valley (out of season in October, the flower came by way of a greenhouse). The custom watercolor crest adorned save the dates, invitations, and even large panels behind the band’s stage. The equestrian bride (she rode horses for TCU as an undergrad) also incorporated touches of her favorite hobby in the wedding, like the “winner’s circle” ribbons for escort cards. In the end, it was the perfect blend of the couple’s personalities to celebrate their lifelong commitment. “Who would have thought that a girl from Las Vegas and a boy from Boston would meet in Texas and truly fall in love?” she says.
