Cordially Invited: “One of my favorite parts was the stationery,” says Allie. The invitation suite set the tone for the big day, bearing earthy hues, leafy accents, and curved edges.

California Love: The bride, who originally hails from California, now calls Matt’s native Texas home. Becoming husband and wife in the presence of loved ones from near and far was a moment she’ll always remember. “Our ceremony was really special,” she remembers.

Dine in Style: Tables were set with wooden chargers, cheesecloth napkins, and copper flatware, all accented with mixed-metal votives, colored taper candles, and floral centerpieces using soft-petaled blooms like peonies, ranunculus, orlaya, sweet peas, and lisianthus.

Earthen Wares:“I always start with linens when I’m designing,” says planner Jess Wegner of Jess Wegner Events, who pulled natural-inspired elements and earthy tones of rust, marigold, and turquoise from patterned linens that served as an aesthetic foundation for the reception.

Boho Blend: “To achieve the “little bit Bohemian but not over-the-top” aesthetic Allie wanted, Jess sourced just-right rental pieces (even going so far as to borrow basket pendants from Stems Floral’s Austin studio, which were uninstalled for the occasion and reinstalled afterward). She also worked with florist Abby Daigle to incorporate orchids into arrangements—the refined feel of which, Jess says, “kept it from leaning too boho and made it more formal.”

Parting Shots:For her exit, Allie donned a hat from Lack of Color—a wedding gift from her groom— as well as a custom jacket that was designed and painted by her sister, Maddie.

Allie Gusikoski & Matt Goates
May 29, 2021
For Matt Goates, catching Allie Gusikoski off guard for a proposal was no small feat. “I always had suspicions,” she says. But with the help of distractions from friends and family, and her California relatives sneakily flying in early for Thanksgiving, Matt was able to say “I gotcha” before dropping to one knee on November 20, 2020. Six months later, the pair sealed the deal at their modern-boho wedding that celebrated Southern beauty and charm against the backdrop of Austin’s captivating Hill Country—an ode to the state that brought them together.
