Something Borrowed: In addition to a pair of Jimmy Choo lace shoes, as well as a Van Cleef & Arpels necklace and earrings that were anniversary gifts from James, Addison wore her mother in law’s bracelet, which features blue stones, on the day of the wedding.

Putting the “Me” in Menu: Guests enjoyed dinner al fresco in the Nasher Sculpture Center garden. James, a gifted cook, worked closely with the caterers to plan the menu, which included nods to his Spanish heritage (including Manchego cheese and Marcona almonds in the salad). Cheesesteak eggrolls were also served as a late-night snack to pay homage to his Philadelphia roots.

Tying the Knot: Addison opted for a simple cake with a pale blue ribbon tied around the middle tier. “I wanted to use that pop of blue,” says Addison. “Sometimes I think simple can go a long way.” The antique Waterford champagne toasting coupes belonged to Addison’s paternal grandmother.

Hosting with the Most: “There was a lot of thought put into the tablescapes,” says planner Meredith Commender. “Addison loves to entertain—she hosts grand parties at home—so it was important that her wedding have that feel too.” Round menu cards sat atop scalloped chargers, while napkins were embroidered with the custom monogram that appeared on the invitations, dance floor, and bar.

Clear Winner: Addison’s Justin Alexander gown was the first one she saw when she started looking online. “I loved the classic, elegant, timeless nature of it,” she remembers. “I tried on so many others and I kept getting drawn back to this dress.”

Blues Clues: “I really wanted to emphasize touches of blue and that something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue feel,” says Addison of the various tonal elements, including these gingham tablecloths.

Addison Fontein & James Currell III
May 8, 2021
Addison Fontein and James Currell’s love story began in Philadelphia, where she was in law school and he was working in banking. “I knew he was the one,” Addison remembers. James proposed in a sculpture garden in New Jersey, so it was only fitting that their wedding should take place in one, too—specifically, the gardens of Dallas’ Nasher Sculpture Center. Though they initially planned to postpone their May 8, 2021, wedding due to Covid, they decided two months out to see it through. “So we actually planned the wedding in 60 days,” laughs Addison. The choice ended up being the right one. Remembers the bride: “The best part of the day was being with loved ones and friends again, in a way that we really couldn’t for the previous year or so.”
