Something Suite: The invitation suite’s envelopes featured an embossed floral arrangement that included Dutch Parrot tulips, a nod to Nick’s heritage and the flowers used in the bridal party bouquets.

All in the Family: “My veil was made by my grandmother, Patti Thomas,” says Kate of her “something borrowed.” “My mother wore it at her wedding, I wore it to mine, and my sister will wear it to her wedding.”

Painterly Palette: Armed with a specific vision for her florals—namely, asymmetrical shapes and a fall color palette—self-confessed “Pinterest addict” Kate enlisted florist Maxine Owens of Max Owens Designs for her sophisticated design eye and ability to blend texture and color.

A Work of Art: Accented with orchid blooms and a still-life-inspired fruit display, Kate and Nick’s four-tiered confection by Panini Bakery satisfied sweet teeth of all types, with two layers of raspberry white chocolate cake and two layers of strawberry almond.

Under the Lights: The reception was held under the string lights of the Nasher Sculpture Center’s gardens. Planner Abby Simoneau admits outdoor celebrations come with inherent risks, but the weather remained picturesque for Kate and Nick’s big day. “It was so beautiful outside,” Abby says. “We got so lucky.”

Be Our Guests: “One of my favorite parts of the day was looking out on the crowd of friends and family members—each person there played a role in shaping me and Nick,” Kate remembers.

All Hail the King: “Nick was adamant about the band and music selection,” laughs Kate. An Elvis impersonator stole the show during the reception, singing “Hunk of Burrin Love” as a nod to the couple’s last name.

Katherine Krikorian & Nick Burrin
October 30, 2021
While serving together in a wilderness ministry program in Canada, Kate Krikorian and Nick Burrin found themselves getting lost in deep conversations. Although Nick was technically her manager, the pair soon found that their friendship had developed into something more. After a year and a half of dating, Nick recreated their first date at their favorite pizza joint in Seattle, ending the evening at a scenic overlook where, as luck would have it, an intimate wedding ceremony was taking place. Not one for creating spectacles, Nick whispered the big question into Kate’s ear. She happily accepted, and the newly engaged couple watched the rest of the ceremony together. On October 30, 2021, it was their turn to tie the knot.
“One of my favorite parts of the day was looking out on the crowd of friends and family members—each person there played a role in shaping me and Nick,” Kate remembers.
