Rose to the Occasion: The rose-covered arch was meticulously managed by the bride’s sister. “She was dead set on it being huge and full and beautiful,” says Steele. “Throughout the day, when we were getting ready, she would peek over the balcony, see the progress, and yell out, ‘More!’ ”

En Blanc: The bride wore white—as did the groom and the entire wedding party. “Casa Hyder is so colorful, with all the brick and greenery, so I wanted everyone in white,” explains Steele. “My mom even wore white.”

More and More: Steele and Brantley chose “More Today Than Yesterday” by The Spiral Staircase for their first dance. “I remember a long time ago, we asked my dad how he knew he wanted to marry my mom, and he said, ‘Every day, I found I loved her more than the day before,’” says Steele. “That makes the song even more special.”

Steele Padgitt & Brantley Smith
October 8, 2022
Steele Padgitt and Brantley Smith grew up a mere five blocks away from one another in Dallas. So when Brantley popped the question, Steele said yes and immediately began looking for a venue far beyond the city limits. “I wanted something different—more intimate and more my personality,” she says. San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, was the natural choice, as Steele fondly remembered seeing wedding parades marching down the streets there when she was a kid. To that end, the couple brought their own adoring cavalcade from Dallas—family and friends, along with a makeup artist, band, and photographer—and made sure their procession came with pyrotechnics. “During our first dance, sparklers erupted from the ground, and everyone was cheering for us,” Steele says. “It was truly magical.”
