Dance the Night Away: Megan knew her Oscar de la Renta gown wasn’t intended to be bustled. So she opted to change into a shorter reception dress, which she found at Reformation’s Beverly Hills outpost while she was on location for another wedding.

Dream Come True: Megan had always dreamed of wearing Oscar de la Renta on her wedding day and has long loved hydrangeas. This full-skirted gown, which features floral appliques meant to resemble hydrangea petals, was the perfect fit. “I knew that was my dress,” she says. “I cried. It was just a magical detail.”

Garden Party: The setting of Flora Farms was ideal for the garden party wedding of Megan’s dreams. The bride wanted “a lot of color” but for the event to still feel “dainty and feminine,” she says.

Trust the Experts: As a wedding vendor herself, Megan knew to let the professionals do what they do best. “I really trusted Jesse [Camargo], the florist, to do his thing,” she says. “He is an artist.”

Sneak Peek: The invitation suite previewed the feminine and approachable feel of the event that was to come, with lots of floral touches and a whimsical font. “It was fun to be a bride, because as a photographer, I chose details that I would love to shoot myself,” says Megan.

Cool and Casual: Megan and Alexa both envisioned a more relaxed calligraphy style for the menu cards to match the overall feel of the venue. “We wanted something a little bit trendy,” Alexa says. “It felt very inviting.”

Down-Home Dinner: Dinner was served family style at the reception, which Megan found appropriate, since the guests had spent three days getting to know one another. “When the guests arrived, you could smell chicken and vegetables being roasted over a fire,” Megan explains.

Flower Power: Megan assigned each bridesmaid a color and then let them choose their dresses. “Everyone chose a floral pattern, which ended up being really beautiful,” she explains.

Fan Girl: “I couldn’t have hydrangeas in my bouquet because it’s so hot in Mexico,” Megan laments. Instead, she carried this fan, which featured floral appliques.

Touch of Blue: Two weeks before Megan’s own nuptials, she and Alexa were in New York City, working a wedding. They decided to pop into Saks Fifth Avenue to look around, and these Manolo Blahniks were there waiting for her. “They were in my size, and I thought it was the perfect something blue,” Megan says.

Wedding planner Alexa Sharkey used to joke that her best friend, wedding photographer Megan Buhr, needed to marry someone that Alexa and her husband, Trevor, would get along with. Enter: William Johnson. After swiping right, Megan and Will connected over their careers, their values, and their dogs. But early on, Megan was still deciding whether to go all in with Will—until he started showing up in a very specific way. “Since most of my weddings are destination, I travel a lot,” says Megan. “While I was still unsure, he was pursuing me, and he’d pick me up from the airport.” The pair even referenced those pivotal airport runs in their vows when they wed on July 5, 2024, at Flora Farms in San José del Cabo, Mexico—where Alexa served as planner and Trevor as officiant.

A Work of Heart
Alexa found a vendor in Cabo to hand paint the dance floor in a pattern inspired by the invitation suite’s envelope liner. “They really think about who they’re painting it for and put so much heart into it,” Megan says of the mother-and-son vendor team.
