According to custom, couples should freeze the top tier of their cake so they can eat it on their first anniversary. Panini Bakery ‘s Sophie Rotundo says not so fast.
“As quaint as it may sound, eating year-old cake from the back of your freezer tastes like a not-so-great idea,” says Sophie. Even though the time-honored tradition is supposed to bring good luck, it’s not the only option.
Like some other bakers these days, Sophie offers an alternative: “Since we started our bakery 25 years ago, we’ve offered a fresh cake for most of our couples’ first anniversary,” she says. “We just trade for a professional photo print of the cakes we made for you. Win-win!”
