Trending Now: How to Use Velvet On Your Wedding Day

Velvet is en vogue! Try these five ways to incorporate the versatile material into your big day.

Crush It!

For instant depth and warmth, incorporate luxe velvet in your wedding-day table coverings and furnishings, like the burgundy table linen, pale pink banquette and stools, and blue upholstered bench used at Courtney Scott and Austin Klinger’s October 17, 2020, reception at Hall Arts Hotel. Get the look with plush rental pieces in a mix of rich tones.

Keep it Clean

One of the easiest ways to make your wedding-day decor feel intentional is to not overlook even the most minute details. Case in point: the velvet napkins at Evie Callaway and Drew Rino’s May 1, 2021, reception—which was held at The Nest at Ruth Farms—make the placesettings feel like anything but an afterthought.

Smokin’ Haute

Grooms can get in on the fun, too! If your husband-to-be isn’t daring enough to try a velvet blazer or pocket square, give him the gift of fancy feet with a pair of timeless velvet loafers.

The Write Stuff

Paper products are one of our favorite places to play with texture. These two designs, both by Southern Fried Paper, incorporate velvet in various ways—from an invitation folio with a velvet ribbon and wax seal (left) to a velvet-backed menu that doubles as a place card. At right, a velvet-backed invitation features the couple’s duogram for a personal touch.
