The Couple
Olivia Whittaker and Collin Mangrum like to say they met the old fashioned way: online. Collin, 31, was born and raised in Sherman, Texas, and received his master’s degree in dispute resolution and conflict management from SMU. He currently owns and operates the Dallas-based commercial real estate company Mangrum Commercial, LLC. Now a model for Kim Dawson in Dallas and Wilhelmina in Los Angeles, Olivia, 22, received a bachelor’s degree in business administration and media studies from the University of Southern California, but is originally from Dallas.
Although Olivia flies around the country for work, she resides with her mom in Lake Highlands, and Collin lives in what will be the couple’s home in the Knox-Henderson area. Collin and Olivia enjoy galavanting around Dallas together, whether that means sampling the various cuisine the city offers, spending time with friends and family, or getting involved at their home church, Watermark.
The Proposal
After a year and half courtship, Collin popped the question in a fashion that is true to Olivia’s profession: Collin staged a fake photo shoot, complete with professional photography and wardrobe. “With the help of family and D Weddings friends Maura Jones and Loddie Allison, he planned a fake ‘D Weddings Engagements’ shoot,” Olivia says. “Having convinced me he was in Austin for a golf trip, I was overjoyed to see Collin walk through the door, surprise me at my shoot, and drop to a knee.” After Olivia said yes, Collin whisked her away to what she thought would be a dinner with parents. Turns out, he had planned an engagement party with their closest friends and family.
The Wedding
Olivia and Collin will wed in the 19th Floor Ballroom at The Adolphus Hotel in Downtown Dallas on June 1: “In planning our wedding, we wanted it to feel timeless, classic, and true to us, and coincidentally, we found The Adolphus Hotel venue to be just that.”
